Quality Engineer Location: DY6 Salary: £30,000 per annum Job Function/Purpose: As a Quality Engineer, your role will be to develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Quality Management Systems (QMS). You will manage customer, supplier, and internal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring swift corrective actions. You will also evaluate, qualify, and continually monitor the performance of new and existing suppliers. Key Responsibilities: 1. Supplier Management:

  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers and conduct continuous improvement activities for existing suppliers.
  • Manage and distribute supplier performance scorecards to ensure ongoing supplier quality.
2. Non-Conformance Management (NCRs):
  • Handle Supplier, Customer, and Internal NCRs using the 8D Methodology.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment and resolution of NCRs, leading corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for all NCRs and produce 8D reports for corrective and preventive actions.
3. Quality Management System Audits:
  • Manage the internal audit schedule for QMS systems and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Carry out both internal and external audits to ensure the effectiveness of QMS.
  • Preferably, you will have training as a QMS Auditor and an awareness of Six Sigma.
4. KPI & Reporting:
  • Produce monthly KPI reports to track performance and drive action plans.
  • Prepare and distribute supplier performance reports to ensure quality standards are met.
5. Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead investigations into root causes for NCRs and customer complaints.
  • Use basic quality tools and problem-solving processes to develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a quality-related role (Quality Engineer / Quality Technician).
  • Familiarity with technical drawings and the ability to interpret them.
  • Experience with fasteners is preferred.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, quality tools, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
