We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our office in West London, Brentford.
BDC is a firm of consulting engineers developing bespoke geotechnical and structural engineering solutions to clients in the construction industry.
Established in West London in June 2009, we have been providing innovative solutions to local, national and international projects.
We play a key role in the assessment, maintenance and reuse of the built environment. The ideal candidate should be able to work on new build as well as reuse and refurbishment projects. Experience in the assessment, inspection and structural appraisal of buildings, bridges, stadia and energy structures is considered a bonus but not essential.
We are looking for a chartered or nearly chartered Civil/Structural engineer with more than five years design experience. The position would suit a highly technical engineer, with at least a Master's degree, confident in concept design and in pushing boundaries of design. We provide the following services:
Design and Value Engineering of Structures for Logistics, Data Centres, Industrial Facilities and Energy projects. Soil-structure interaction and design for various types of foundations and ground solutions.
Structural assessment and structural investigation using visual inspections, non-destructive testing NDT techniques, intrusive and structural testing as well as structural appraisals using hand-calculations and FE analysis.
Design of RC Framed Buildings to the Eurocode. Repair design of RC Framed Buildings. Design of Steel Structures (single storey and multi-storey) to Eurocodes and AISC including application of seismic loads, non-linear behaviour and local/global failure modes.
We use a variety of softwares including SCIA Engineer and IDEA Statica so familiarity with these softwares is a plus.
Bespoke foundations solutions including rafts, piled rafts, retaining walls, embedded piles, basements. Temporary works design including propping and shoring of deep excavations. As a result of our growth, we are looking for a senior structural engineer to join our team. You will be expected to work on design projects involving concrete and steel mainly. You will be provided with support to meet the project commitments. Structural analysis and design.
Structural assessment of existing buildings, bridges, stadia and energy assets.
Managing and running structural design projects with autonomy (building repairs, residential developments, civil engineering design for foundations and retaining walls).
Monitoring project progress, budgets and schedule
Site visits, carrying out desktop investigations, attending site meetings and checking progress and quality of work on site.
Liaising with contractors, clients and architects.
Representing the company at design team and contractor/client meetings and business.
Development/networking events as may be required.
Communicating clearly with team members, manager and contractors, architects, clients.
Educated to degree level or equivalent in structural or civil engineering. Minimum 5 years design experience of structural engineering building design to British Standards, European Codes or American Codes.
Good technical writing and presentation skills
We have a track record of successful completion of residential, commercial and industrial projects to client's satisfaction.
We use traditional strengthening, jacketing, composite repairs (fibre reinforced polymers) or high performance concrete.
We use latest industry softwares including SCIA Engineer, Tekla, Idea Statica, Tedds and are constantly looking at ways to develop our tools to support our clients.
