About this opportunity:

The Everyday Banking legal team is part of the Consumer Division of the Legal & Secretariat Community. We challenge ourselves, and will welcome someone who’s curious, versatile and enthusiastic, and wants to work at the heart of the Everyday Banking business.

  • Your focus will be on the wide-range of issues that affect personal bank and savings accounts.
  • You’ll also support transformation projects, assisting in the delivery of changes to products and services.
  • You’ll offer insightful legal expertise and commercial advice to business partners in Everyday Banking and their support areas (including relevant business platform teams), and facilitate the delivery of excellent outcomes for customers and for LBG.
  • Ideally you’ll have technical knowledge of retail banking law, general consumer law, FCA principles and rules (including the Handbook, BCOBS and CONC), Payment Services Regulations, Payment Accounts Regulations and other requirements applying to the products and services we support, plus some appreciation of underlying industry arrangements such as LINK and Open Banking. This will include an understanding of the higher standards of customer treatment expected under Consumer Duty. (If you are not familiar with all of these, but have some relevant expertise, transferable skills and are keen to learn, we are also happy to consider your application.)
  • You’ll have sound legal, commercial and risk judgment.
  • You’ll build effective working partnerships and consensus across a variety of functions, proactively challenging, advising and influencing business managers on legal issues.
  • You’ll thrive on challenge, and be able to balance multiple competing demands.
  • You’ll collaborate with other legal teams and join Consumer Legal initiatives and Legal & Secretariat community projects.
