London, United Kingdom Richmond and Wandsworth Councils Full time

Role: Director of Children's Place and Partnerships
Are you passionate about partnership working to drive positive change for children and families?
As a modern, dynamic, and forward-thinking children's department, we have created this exciting new role to be a central and critical part of our ambition to ensure all children and young people can live their best lives and become the accomplished adults of the future.
Having just been chosen as the London Borough of Culture for 2025, these are exciting times to join us at Wandsworth and explore the new opportunities that will be available for our young people, whilst uniting and enhancing our relationships with local communities.
A real innovator, you have a proven track record in delivering change and transformation to benefit communities.
With excellent collaboration and partnership skills, you will thrive on working across boundaries to engender change that benefits our diverse communities, statutory and voluntary partners. Kind, compassionate and ready to embrace the values that define us as an organisation, you take pride in placing the voice of the child at the heart of everything we do. You naturally work to champion and facilitate the participation of children and families to ensure their needs and aspirations are reflected in the way we deliver services and, in the decisions made. You'll be adept at doing this at all levels across the council and with our partners - to help improve outcomes for all.
Hear from our young people on what they're looking for
Children are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe in the transformational power of partnerships in improving lives for children and families in the communities we serve. 'It takes a village to raise a child'.
Our ambition is to have family hubs supported by our satellite children centres and youth clubs, at the heart of the community, in places and spaces easily accessible to all. An 'all in one' place, our 'my family life' hubs are welcoming, friendly spaces where our statutory partners, voluntary organisations, early help services, housing and registrar services work together, under one roof, to deliver services to children and families.
If this role resonates with you and you possess the skills and tenacity to make a difference for children and families, we want to hear from you
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jemima Finney, Executive Assistant to Ana Popovici, Executive Director - Children's Services by email Jemima.Midnight, 21st April 2024
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity and developing a culture that values differences, recognising that employees from a variety of backgrounds bring important and positive contributions to the Councils and can improve the way we deliver services.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Some posts may be exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to these posts will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
We offer a wide range of benefits designed to attract, develop, and reward our employees such as 31 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) and a generous pension plan.
Please note, due to the nature of this role you will be expected to be leading, present and visible in the communities we serve. You will be office based and we are unable to consider part time working or compressed hours for this role.
