Location: Hybrid - home and Durham (once a week or potentially adhoc)

Contract Type: 12 months contract (Renewable)

IR35 Status: Inside, Umbrella

Day rate: £600/day

Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector? We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join EDF Renewables, a leading name in the industry. As an Electrical Engineer - Operational, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Asset Managers and contributing to the success of renewable asset performance.

Role Overview, Nature, and Scope:

In this 12-month renewable contract, you will be responsible for championing EDF R Health and Safety policies while providing expert technical support on electrical matters. Your role will involve creating and implementing the High-Level Maintenance Policy and Long-Term Strategy for all renewable assets within your area of responsibility. You will work closely with the operational lead engineer to manage fleet-wide electrical technical issues, identify engineering risks, and ensure optimal asset performance.

You will have the opportunity to deliver improvement projects to operational assets and provide valuable feedback on lessons learned to the Development and Construction functions. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of electrical technical standards for new projects and provide technical due diligence and field quality assurance to the Development and Construction teams.

As part of your responsibilities, you will also support the R&D teams in the development of new technologies, further enhancing your expertise in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, ensuring a zero harm approach and maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental protection.
  • Assist in setting the high-level maintenance policy and fleet-wide strategy for offshore renewable assets.
  • Conduct onsite inspections, compile technical reports, and provide updates on technical issues and engineering work programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Engineering Works, Maintenance, Strategic Policies, Company Procedures, WTSR's, HV Safety Rules, and statutory legislation.
  • Support the Asset Management team in managing technical incident investigations, non-conformances, and change control processes.
  • Investigate technical issues affecting asset availability and generation, providing recommendations for improvement to the Asset Management team.
  • Identify and assess operational risks, contributing to the operational risk register and developing contingency plans for unplanned events.
  • Evaluate O&M contractor performance and develop strategic spares strategies.
  • Act as a technical assessor for proposed modifications and support short-term technical trials and improvement programs.
  • Maintain technical records and database for effective engineering problem-solving and lesson learned purposes.
  • Collaborate with EDF companies and technical design authorities for specialist engineering support and inspections.
  • Assist in inspections and end-of-warranty programs, and contribute to the development of operational procedures and agreements.
  • Drive improvement projects for operational renewable assets and share valuable insights within the business and the wider industry.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or working towards an Electrical Engineering degree.
  • High-level Health and Safety Qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience as an Operational Electrical Engineer.
  • Strong engineering and technical experience in the renewable energy industry or similar.
  • Experience in managing technical issues or improvement projects.
  • Ability to effectively manage and record change control on operational assets.

  • Excellent analytical thinking, with the capability to present key findings and recommendations effectively.
