The Senior Consultant Electrical Engineer will work within a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for a range of offshore wind farm projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their technical and soft skills through training and on-the-job learning, working with colleagues from different disciplines and with experts and influencers from across the industry.
The work will include providing expert analyses and advice relating to, but not limited to, offshore transmission systems including high and medium voltage engineering in owner’s engineer technical advisory, technical due diligence, and power systems desktop study roles. Wider responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting technical lead on projects to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to clients with the timeframe, costs and quality standards established
- Providing expert analysis and advice relating to offshore transmission systems, high and medium voltage engineering in owner’s engineer technical advisory, technical due diligence and power systems desktop study roles
- Preparing and assisting with review, analysis and interpretation of technical data Bids and proposal support to aid providing high quality competitive bids as assigned by line manager or country manager.
- Attending regular internal meeting and external / third party meetings as required and build collaborative relationships with our clients.
- Ensuring all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies Mentor and support less experienced team members
- Management of OWC’s subcontractors.
- Undertaking a package manager role within a larger project including delivering on behalf of a client within an owner’s engineering package. Typically, this would cover complete technical project management of a package including development, design, procurement (with contracting processes), construction and installation of a package (i.e. WTG, foundations or onshore
This role is a hybrid role split between Glasgow or London office and home address, split to be agreed with line manager.
What we are looking for.We are looking for strong candidates with the ability to quickly master engineering software, knowledge of electrical systems and power systems concepts. Ability to co-ordinate, direct and lead complex projects and work under own initiative with minimum supervision. In addition, you will have:
- A degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science, or ideally Master’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
- At least 6 years or more of experience in utilities, infrastructure, power systems, electrical engineering, or energy systems.
- Experience in the development, construction and operation of onshore or ideally offshore wind projects.
- Any even high-level experience with power systems studies, engineering calculations and software.
- Experience with high and medium voltage electrical components and the other technical equipment
- Experience of consulting, advising or designing renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with project development road map and stages at least the one that comes out of large scale renewable or power transmission/distribution projects.
- Knowledge of appropriate ENA, IEC, NGTS, IEEE, DNV codes and standards.
- Strong project management skills.
- Good reporting and technical writing abilities.
- High level of proficiency in English
