This senior post ensures that Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering provides a high quality and innovative medical physics and clinical engineering service to Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering service. The post holder ensures that appropriate and high quality services are delivered to patients and staff across the Trust. Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest, busiest and most successful healthcare organisations in the country. Our long and distinguished history dates back to the foundation of St Thomas' Hospital in the twelfth century. The Trust now encompasses five hospitals, as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark. This senior post ensures that Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering provides a high quality and innovative medical physics and clinical engineering service to Guys & St Thomas Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.The Head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering service. The post holder ensures that appropriate and high quality services are delivered to patients and staff across the Trust.
PhD or equivalent in Medical Physics or a related subject
IPEM Diploma or equivalent in Medical Physics or Medical Engineering
Management qualification or equivalent experience at Diploma or MBA level or equivalent
Broad experience of working in a number of areas in Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering
Recent successful record of achievement managing a significant function within Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, including a strategic leadership role
Engagement with multiple stakeholders in advancing the application of science and medical technology
Significant experience of business planning, financial management and the production of complex business cases
Previous senior scientific role in a large teaching hospital or equivalent organisation
Successful implementation of new service delivery models
Leadership of research and development projects
Experience in the delivery of education and training
Broad and well-developed knowledge across the whole field of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering
Detailed knowledge of a range of scientific and engineering techniques and applications in healthcare
Developed knowledge of areas within Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, sufficient to act as an expert at Trust level on aspects of these services
Developed understanding of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines across Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering
Effective leadership and strategic management skills which include collaborative and flexible working styles, political awareness and sensitivity, and the ability to motivate others to deliver
