Hours: 37.5 hours per week if full-time. Monday to Friday.

Are you looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge working with young people? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you

The role

We have a great opportunity to appoint a new Cover Supervisor here at Nova Hreod. Working alongside two other cover supervisors you will play a fundamental role in supporting a mixture of planned and reactive cover requirements across a full range of subject areas.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and professional person who can effectively manage classroom behaviour, introduce and support cover work and ensure lesson outcomes are achieved in the absence of the classroom teacher across a full range of subjects. They will be able to help all students at Nova understand the value of their education, be able to facilitate a happy and productive classroom experience and be a positive role model to all students they work with. (Nova Hreod has a clear and robust behaviour policy which means that if a pupil disrupts learning, they are removed from the lesson.)

Cover Supervisors at Nova Hreod can access the same outstanding training activities and support we offer to our subject specialist teachers, and there is a great opportunity to take a full role in school life alongside the cover duties.

What you offer

You will first and foremost be a reliable person, with the organisation and communication skills required to effectively manage the cover provision at the academy and in doing so build positive relationships with Faculty Leaders, SLT and pastoral staff across the academy. You will be reflective and resilient in the face of setbacks and be open to making improvements to the systems and processes around you.

Being familiar with a school setting and the systems that govern it is advantageous as it will allow you to navigate the unique challenges of the classroom. This may have been achieved through other appointments in other cover supervisor roles, teaching, mentoring, or work completed in other youth organisations. This role may also be suitable for qualified teachers – from any discipline – who are looking for a different professional challenge whilst retaining experience in the classroom.

What Nova Hreod offers

The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making Nova one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of Nova means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you. There is the possibility of training to teach in the future if you are interested. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of Nova Hreod can be found via our website.

Nova Hreod Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
