You will be administering, maintaining and evolving our observability platform while providing best practice and monitoring solutions to support all our critical products and systems. Our recent move from a monitoring to observability first mind-set is a critical part of our DevOps strategy and as such, Observability Engineers will be expected to provide a suitable platform for allowing us to observe the behaviour and health on all of our systems. You will provide new solutions and strategies for surfacing key insights, help to reduce mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to repair (MTTR) and introduce practices and standards for ensuring that observability is not an afterthought for new systems.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Excellent knowledge of contemporary monitoring, analytics tooling and best practice.
Strong experience of integrating systems and applications with monitoring and APM tools.
Basic programming experience, ideally with Python, Golang or Javascript, as well as basic scripting ability with Powershell and Bash.
Experience with public and private Cloud.
Proficiency with Linux operating system.
particularly DevOps.
Building sophisticated monitoring dashboards using log data, metrics and traces from a number of sources including New Relic, Grafana, Splunk and Kibana.
Working with service owners and other teams on integrations while supporting the on boarding of telemetry data into the observability platform and creating solutions with that data.
Contributing towards the development of standards and best practices for monitoring, logging and tracing.
Maintaining and administrating existing monitoring and analytic tools.
Collaborating with colleagues in Operations Engineering, Platform Delivery, IT Services and Software Development to determine requirements and solutions to solve problems and progress work.
Participating in problem analysis in order to prevent recurrence.
