One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Refugee Resettlement Worker. This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance. Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary The post holder will assist refugees placed or moved into the Borough to resettle in the UK. Service streams include the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Afghan Resettlement Scheme, Syrian Resettlement Scheme and the Council's response to the Streamlined Asylum Process. The work includes face-to-face outreach work with vulnerable migrants as well as report writing and recording of actions undertaken. This includes promoting the integration and resettlement of refugees within the Borough to enable them to participate fully in society; carrying out holistic needs assessments of individuals and families and creating support plans; providing practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by SAP and supporting them to access key services including welfare benefits, health, housing and education. The post holder will also need to effectively facilitate the communication and engagement between the refugees and key stakeholder organisations, charities and government bodies. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake welfare checks of evicted service users.
  • To provide advice and support to Service users evicted due to SAP.
  • To act as a Single Point of Contact for refugees and service providers/stakeholders.
  • To conduct holistic needs assessments with individuals and families and create a plan of support
  • To provide support and advice around and referral to appropriate health services, DWP, bank accounts, education, access to employment, housing etc.
  • To work directly with individuals and families in helping them gain the knowledge and skills then need to move on to independence
  • To identify potential special needs/community care needs and refer to Local Authority as needed.
  • To support individuals and families to develop connections with the local community
  • To prepare for eventual additional individuals/families being evicted by planning ahead for such an occurrence.
  • To support the Management team in coordinating the Council’s response to SAP
  • To handle own administration efficiently and develop administrative systems which ensure the smooth running of assignments.
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as requested.
