To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to the medical, eldercare and palliative patients at Treliske Hospital.


To work alongside the Acute Therapy Lead, Acute OT Team Lead for ED and Admitting areas, the Acute Physiotherapy Team Leads and the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead, in planning, co-coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service.


To be instrumental in the on-going development of services and practices that provide high quality care and interventions.

Management and Personal Development


Operational Supervision and appraisal of Band 6 staff in team, and general management of a team of staff, bands 3 to 6.


Sickness absence management.


Professional leadership within field of expertise.


Manage clinical risk within patient caseload.


Supporting students / work experience students.


Strategic Development, Planning and Organising


Work within Trust, HCPC and clinical guidelines, applying working knowledge of national and local standards


Monitoring team activity/performance, including patient activity, mandatory training attendance, PDRS etc


Responsible for E-rostering, annual leave planning and recording of sickness absence within the team.
g Postgraduate qualifications, postgraduate certificate/Diploma, Masters Modules or management qualification
IELTS unless qualification in English

Highly developed skills in managing staff, including managing challenging behaviours, emotive situations such as attendance management, grief, illness)
Highly developed communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate contentious or complex information effectively, including at times when there are barriers to communication eg when negotiating changes to working practises, managing patient/service delivery complaints or during complex Human Resources situations (disciplinary/capability procedures)
Experience of managing the risks associated with unsupervised/lone working
Comprehensive experience as a clinical educator of undergraduate students
Experience in budget management
Experience of writing medico legal reports

Flexible, motivated, enthusiatic, innnovative, visionary
Able to work effectively with varying work patterns and to work effectively on several issues/projects at once
Computer literate
Excellent organisational/management skills
Awareness of National Agendas and have good working knowledge of national and local legislation policies and procedures

High level of emotional intelligence - empathy, insight
A full UK driving license
