We are seeking a dynamic Head of Design and Technology to join the team at a vibrant and diverse secondary school in North Birmingham. Day to day of the role:
  • Lead the Design and Technology department, setting high standards and clear expectations for staff and students.
  • Develop and implement innovative pedagogical strategies to enhance teaching and learning within the department.
  • Observe lessons and provide constructive feedback to promote high-quality teaching practices.
  • Ensure that all members of the department engage in regular professional development and peer observations.
  • Act as a role model for staff, embodying the school's values and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the trust to participate in cross-trust activities and initiatives.
  • Drive up standards, expectations, and aspirations, enabling staff and students to regularly experience success.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A proven track record of effective leadership within Design and Technology or a related subject area.
  • A strong commitment to improving student outcomes and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent understanding of curriculum development and the latest educational practices.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

  • A commitment to personal and professional development.
