Safety Officer/Dispatcher--3rd Shift

THIS IS A 3RD SHIFT POSITION . The employee works two 12 hour shifts per week as a dispatcher (7 PM to 7 AM), and two 8 hour shifts per week as a safety officer (11 PM to 7 AM). Dispatcher duties include answering phones, assisting customers at the dispatch window, coordinating radio transmissions between employees, and maintaining a log of all Safety interventions. The safety officer responsibilities include patrolling campus, responding to calls, assisting with lockouts, providing safe ride services, and building positive relationships with members of the Messiah University community.
Prior employment in a service-oriented line of work.
1 year of experience in a security or customer service position within a college or university setting.

• Ability to manage conflict, to effect conflict resolution and to work cooperatively with the campus community
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks including radio and telephone contacts
• Willingness to work different shifts, work weekends and holidays, some mandatory overtime required for special events; submit to Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation of such. employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay.
This position requires the operation of a Messiah College owned or leased vehicle and the employee must possess and maintain a current driver’s license, meet the established criteria, and abide by all policies and procedures as presented in the College’s Fleet Vehicle Use Policy.
Receive and respond to phone calls, window contacts, and radio transmissions at the Dispatch office in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
Start complaints on the Informant software.
Assist with lockouts and safe ride services.
