The School and Role
Youth workers in schools play a pivotal role in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to students, typically adolescents, navigating the complexities of their formative years. They serve as a bridge between students, teachers, and parents, fostering positive relationships and creating a safe space for young individuals to express themselves. Their job involves addressing various issues students may face, including academic challenges, mental health concerns, social pressures, and family issues. Through one-on-one counselling, group sessions, and workshops, youth workers empower students to develop essential life skills, resilience, and self-confidence, ultimately contributing to their holistic growth and well-being within the school community.
The setting provides tailored programs and interventions to help students thrive academically and personally. The desired Youth Worker will have;
Minimum of 1-year experience in a care, residential or educational setting is required.
A passion for supporting and caring for Children and Adults with behavioural or Special Educational Needs.
A strong understanding and awareness of safeguarding is essential.
A background in therapeutic care or therapeutic practice would be desirable.
An Ability to work individually and take a proactive approach to student care and learning.
