Applications for FlexEnable’s technology include flexible Organic LCD displays (OLCD) for consumer electronics and automotive, and flexible biaxially formable active Liquid Crystal Cell (LC Optics) that actively modulate, bend and focus light for applications including AR/VR Optics and smart glasses, automotive smart windows and switchable privacy displays. Our FlexiOM OTFT materials are the world’s highest performance across all key parameters and are already shipping to production partners. FlexEnable supplies OTFT materials, technology transfers, and licenses to its processes to display manufacturers allowing them to upgrade and diversify with truly flexible electronics and tap into exciting new markets.

The role

The main purpose of the role is to work as part of a small team providing support for optical and reliability testing, implementation of new tests, data analysis and reporting of module and system units. This is a hands-on, practical role, working alongside inquisitive, innovative and exceptional engineers and reporting into an optical test manager. The incumbent will be able to make a strong and high energy contribution to the company, operating as a key member of the test team, proactively contributing to Quality Control and driving excellence in Health & Safety.

Key accountabilities
  • Support the optical test manager in the provision of a high-quality optical test infrastructure. Work with the team to identify ways to improve existing capabilities and add new ones
  • Liaise with electrical and TFT test function when necessary
  • Work as part of the team that will perform tests and complete data analysis on sample units at both system and module levels
  • Work as part of the team that will drive triage of optical liquid crystal cells, including establishing standard test procedures and reporting methods
  • Be an active member of the team that will contribute to failure analysis of optical liquid crystal cells and liaise with design and process team on critical improvements
Skills and experience

Qualifications:

  • Science / Engineering-based discipline qualification an advantage

Experience that will be utilised in the role:

  • A broad engineering background, likely to encompass some or all of the following: liquid crystal cell characterisation, optics, electro/optical characterisation, flat panel display technologies
  • Significant experience of test methodologies and test data analysis
  • High level of competency with MS Office and fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of health and safety awareness
  • Flexible approach to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, the ability and initiative to approach tasks in a structured manner and the tenacity to resolve on-going technical issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Structured, organised and detail oriented in approach
  • Team player with ability to work as part of organisation wide project / functional teams as well as independently
