Sporting Chances Group (SCG) is an alternative education provider that spans South East London, Surrey, and Sutton. Our provisions support young people who are unable to achieve their best in mainstream education because of social, emotional, or behavioural needs. We provide valuable respite for young people going through challenges in the education system. Across our services, we offer 1-to-1 mentoring, outreach programmes, sports activities, group learning, beauty qualifications and more. Our mission is to get the best out of every young person who is sent our way, to encourage excellence and nurture talent

Working alongside our specialised education team, you will provide tailored support to young people who have been excluded from school due to behavioural challenges or who are unable to attend mainstream education due to special educational needs or disabilities. As an Educational Support Worker, you will work one-on-one or in small groups with students, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience. You’ll be provided with guidance and resources, allowing you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of these young people.

Delivery of tuition in a named subject/s to young people attending the provision – this may be on a 1-to-1 basis or in small groups, depending on the needs of the young people.
Target setting, lesson planning, marking of work, and providing feedback to young people.
Production of progress reports on young people under tuition. Liaising with management regularly in order to understand the support needs of each young person, including understanding the results of individual risk assessments before starting to work with a new young person.
Report any safeguarding concerns following SCG's Child Protection Policy.
Adhere to all other relevant policies and procedures as provided by SCG, including but not limited to; Child Protection, Health & Safety, Lone Working, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Equality, Anti-Radicalisation, Anti-Bullying etc.
Develop professional relationships with young people, always maintaining appropriate and transparent boundaries.
Engage in supervision sessions as requested by the Manager.

Experience / Training / Education
Teaching qualification in a relevant subject – at degree level or equivalent
QTS Certification required 
Experience in working with young people with complex needs, challenging behaviour and disabilities is desirable 

Knowledge of the regulatory framework and reporting responsibilities e.g. child protection and safeguarding
Enhanced DBS (can be obtained via SCG)
