Job Title: Occupational Therapist Team Lead (Locum)

Locations: We currently have opportunities across a few different regions including London, Cambridge, Luton and more.

Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in a senior or specialised role. This position offers an opportunity to lead and develop occupational therapy services, enabling individuals with complex physical, cognitive, or psychosocial impairments to achieve their maximum level of independence and participation in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate individuals with complex needs, utilizing advanced clinical reasoning and specialized occupational therapy techniques.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans using evidence-based practices and advanced therapeutic interventions to improve independence, safety, and quality of life.
  • Provide specialized occupational therapy interventions in areas such as neurology, paediatrics, mental health, or rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Educate and train patients, families, caregivers, and staff on strategies for promoting independence, safety, and participation in daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, adhering to professional standards and legal requirements.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision, professional development activities, and continuing education to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Lead the development and implementation of occupational therapy service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor occupational therapy assistants, students, junior therapists, and provide clinical leadership to the occupational therapy team.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects within the occupational therapy department.
  • Oversee and lead the discharge planning process, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive assessments, recommendations, and coordination of equipment, home modifications, and community resources for a safe and successful transition from healthcare facilities to home or community settings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience, with experience in a senior or specialized role.
  • Excellent knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, and advanced interventions in a specialized area.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical leadership.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development, evidence-based practice, and service improvement.
  • Experience in leading occupational therapy teams, service development, or project management is desirable.
