About the role:

Work is underway to refurbish and prepare our new site in Hawley ready for our new school opening in Autumn 2024 so we are looking for our first cohort of talented SEN Teachers. As Life Skills Teacher at Hawley Woods School you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will plan, assess and deliver outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable all young people to learn, whilst ensuring that pastoral needs are also met. You will establish excellent relationships with parents and carers and inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, families and other professionals.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who holds QTS, and ideally you will have experience of working with children with autism spectrum conditions and social emotional and mental health needs. With a proven ability to deliver high quality, lively and effective secondary teaching, which engages and motivates young people, you’ll be someone who has a passion for supporting them to learn and develop, and you’ll want to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people. We would love to hear from you if you share our passion and commitment to developing confident and capable young people by meeting their educational, health and social care needs in structured, nurturing school and home provisions.

We very much welcome applications from teachers wishing to transition from mainstream to working with smaller groups of students in special education. We will help you build your expertise and confidence to deliver high quality, lively and effective classroom teaching in an autism-friendly way through our ongoing package of training, CPD and one to one supervision.

Why work for us?

  • A comprehensive induction programme so you can hit the ground running

  • A friendly, passionate team committed to getting the best outcomes for our young people

Benefits include:

  • £500 refer-a-friend bonus
  • Life assurance
  • Cycle to work scheme and laptop loans
  • Discounts on cinema trips, electronics, fashion, home and garden, travel, groceries, gifts, utilities, health and fitness
  • Birthday treats
  • Long service and employee of the month awards
  • Employee assistance and counselling service, wellbeing support and advice
  • Optional flu jab
