Job Summary:

Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You are both commissioned to establish and develop recovery support and communities across Lancashire.

The role of the Volunteer Coordinator is a joint venture between the two services, to recruit, train and develop volunteering opportunities across Lancashire.

  • To promote Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You Community Engagement Projects involving Project Volunteers, Recovery Champions, Peer Mentors and the wider community
  • To recruit, train, supervise and support Volunteers, Recovery Champions, Peer Supporters and Peer Mentors
  • To research, develop and deliver appropriate training in line with Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You’s core programmes

Main responsibilities:

  • To recruit, induct and train volunteers across both organisations
  • To create volunteering opportunities and arrange placements for volunteers across both organisations
  • To arrange supervision for volunteers across both organisations
  • To establish and maintain a network of local partner agencies to support and contribute to the scheme
  • Ensure appropriate advertising and other publicity to promote the volunteer schemes, ensuring all material produced is in accordance with We Are With You’s standards and the Marketing & Communications Directorate.
  • Identify suitable voluntary placements (both internal and external) and establish appropriate liaison and support for volunteers.
  • Work with We Are With You’s Income and Commercial Development Directorate to support opportunities for corporate volunteering; support We Are With You’s National Leads in the development of consistent and comprehensive training, structures and review mechanisms.
  • Support the Service/Contracts Manager/Locality Managers to lead partnerships/projects within the local community (to include but not limited to, social enterprise partnerships).
  • Support/lead ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) hubs in specified localities or services; coordinating teams of Volunteers and Recovery Champions to develop and deliver comprehensive community engagement and social value strategies.
  • Manage the social investment fund applications, administration and reporting processes.
  • Support the National Community Engagement Lead in the development of systems, tools and processes, contributing to effective integrated governance.
  • Support development of organisational skills and knowledge-based training packages (to include substance misuse and related issues) suitable for local use for Community Engagement.
  • Ensure regular support and line management and where appropriate, clinical supervision and support is provided to all Volunteers, Recovery Champions, Peer Mentors and Students, in line with Red Rose Recovery’s policies and We Are With You’s Community Engagement Toolkit.
  • Undertake monitoring of all aspects of the scheme and recording to the standards of accuracy and detail required by funders and We Are With You.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective, safe and innovative service provision.
  • To support the Lancashire User Forum (LUF)
  • To work with Red Rose Recovery and We are With You partner organisations to ensure the best use of time and resources.
  • To raise awareness of the work of Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You by promoting a good public image.
  • To work in accordance with all Red Rose Recovery policies and procedures.
  • Ensure any safeguarding disclosures are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with Red Rose Recovery policy

Information and Governance

  • Work with colleagues in the Quality & Clinical Governance and the Knowledge Management teams to ensure the best practice is shared and knowledge and management information is available to the teams and the wider organisation to ensure services meet required standards, are evidence-based and demonstrate impact in terms of a recovery orientation.
  • Engage with staff, service users and carers ensuring personal visibility and accessibility.
  • Develop and / or build strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders and commissioners to ensure continuity of service.
  • Demonstrate role model behaviour with regard to service user and carer engagement

People Management

  • Effectively support and coordinate a team of volunteers and recovery champions to deliver Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop open working relationships to ensure operation in line with Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You’s values and work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partner organisations.
  • Ensure volunteers and recovery champions receive appropriate training and support to deliver services and receive on-going feedback.
  • Support effective communication activities to ensure Red Rose Recovery and We Are With You’s strategic direction is, clear, understood, and that staff are engaged to deliver high quality services and support the celebration of local successes in line with any agreed corporate standards.
