We’re looking for a talented, motivated, and hands-on *Sous Chef* to join our kitchen team and support the continued success of our busy gastropub and its thriving takeaway service. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and a dedicated team of five, playing a key role in maintaining our high standards of food quality, consistency, and creativity.
As Sous Chef, you’ll take a lead role in day-to-day kitchen operations — from supporting menu development and supervising junior chefs to ensuring smooth service during our busiest periods.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Support the Head Chef in managing and motivating the kitchen team.
* Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with our standards.
* Maintain excellent food safety and hygiene practices at all times.
* Oversee stock control, ordering, and waste management to ensure efficiency.
* Assist in menu planning, dish development, and implementation of new ideas.
* Train, mentor, and support junior chefs and kitchen porters.
* Ensure a clean, organized, and well-run kitchen environment.
* Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
* Work effectively under pressure during busy service periods, particularly evenings and weekends.
