Vehicle Mechanic

Cardiff

Permanent Contract

£15 to £17 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

Full Time - Hours 8am to 6pm (45 hrs per week Monday to Friday/2 Saturdays 5 hours per month)

We are looking for a skilled Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our team in providing high-quality automotive service and maintenance. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing tasks on a variety of vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and technical resources to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
  • Perform vehicle inspections to identify any safety concerns or potential problems.
  • Complete repairs efficiently and accurately, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Communicate with customers regarding recommended repairs, estimated costs, and repair timelines.
  • Keep accurate records of all services and repairs performed on vehicles.
  • Stay updated on new automotive technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to diagnose and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic codes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in automotive engineering or a related field.
  • Certification from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) or equivalent is desirable
  • MOT Tester licence desirable but not essential
