Cambridge Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available on an 0.2 FTE basis, for 12 months in the first instance.

The University of Cambridge is recognised globally as a renowned centre for research, education and scholarship. We employ more than 12,500 staff in a range of academic, research and professional services roles, all of whom play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our world leading reputation. Our people are our greatest asset, and it is critical to our continued success that we create the right conditions for our people to thrive at Cambridge.

The Race Equality Network is a community for staff members who self-identify as being from a racial minority ethnic background and/or who have an interest in the topic of race and would like to contribute to anti-racism initiatives at the University.

It aims to create a sense of belonging by providing a safe forum to network, socialise, share, question, challenge and receive support and advice in relation to race equality. The Network aspires to be a consultative body for the University and colleges, providing a perspective and authoritative voice on race-related policy and initiatives.

The Role:

As the Race Equality Network Co-ordinator at Cambridge, you will provide a variety of administrative, secretarial, and organisational support to the University of Cambridge Race Equality Network. The post holder will work with the Chair(s) and committee members to develop and implement processes for the network while also liaising with colleagues across the University community to deliver the network's objectives. Additionally, the post holder will also be responsible for attending relevant University meetings on the network's behalf, updating and maintaining the network's webpage, organising network events, and managing the network's budget.

This role is suitable for remote or hybrid working, with hot-desking space available at the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion section, based at The Old Schools.

About you:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with demonstrable administrative and secretarial experience, as well as knowledge of event management. Experience of communications would be advantageous.

You will also share a commitment to racial equality and be able to demonstrate an understanding of issues surrounding race and exclusion in Higher Education.

Further information about the role and its responsibilities is available via the link below.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our Division.
