AJ Chambers have an exciting opportunity for a Conveyancing Assistant to join a boutique law firm in the West End.

The role requires flexibility to meet the needs of fee earners and their secretaries and the Conveyancing Assistant will need to demonstrate the ability to manage themself to be able to prioritise the needs of individuals against the needs of the firm as a whole.

The Conveyancing Assistant will also provide secretarial and administrative services for other solicitors in the firm as required, demonstrating initiative by volunteering their services to fee earners and others throughout the firm if they has spare capacity.

To adhere to agreed procedure as detailed in the Office Manual;
• To seek to protect client’s interests at all times, while taking precautions against potential fraud and money laundering;
• Collate and send or check supporting legal and financial documents;
• Deal with all financial aspects of a transaction;
• If the property is leasehold, obtain the landlord’s agreement to the sale of the change of mortgage and deal with apportionment of rent and service charges;
• Carrying out and checking pre-contract searches by checking whether the property is affected by local authority proposals, leases or easements or covenants, mortgages, land tax, susceptibility to flooding or subsidence. or liability for unsound building structures and repairs;
• Receive and check mortgage instructions from lenders and undertake specific tasks required;
• Prepare transfer and mortgage deeds;
• Receive mortgage funds;
• Organising travel arrangements and setting up off-site meetings.

This role will offer a salary of up to £32k in great offices and 2 days hybrid working.
