About the team

Case Preparation andPresentation (CPP) is a multidisciplinary team mainly responsible forpreparing and presenting case to answer cases referred to the Fitnessto Practise Committee for fair and timely conclusions.

Aboutthe rolenWe have 3 roles available - 2 permanent opportunities and onefixed term opportunity for 9 months.nThe NMCs largest team of lawyersand paralegals prides itself on its collegiate and supportiveenvironment. Lawyers are supported by a head and senior lawyers whoprovide technical supervision and support with professionaldevelopment. Our lawyers review and prepare fitness to practise casesas well as conducting advocacy in substantive and non-substantivehearings before our practice committees. In addition, they prepare andpresent High Court interim order extension applications covering theUKs jurisdictions as well as having the opportunity to advise on PSAand registrant appeals filed in the High Court.

Aboutyou

You will be a lawyer who may already have experience ofregulatory law (but if not, you should demonstrate an interest in thisarea) and who will be committed to helping us to deliver good qualityadjudication outcomes for registrants referred to the NMC in anon-adversarial and person-centred way. You will be an excellentcommunicator, whether that be in oral, written or presentation form.You will also have a high level of attention to detail and will havethe ability to quality assure your own work with minimalsupervision.

Skills and experiencerequired

Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or CharteredLegal Executive).nHolder of a UK Practising Certificate/eligible toobtain a UK Practising Certificate.nProven experience of providingconsistently accurate and appropriate legal advice.nExperience ofworking in a politically sensitive environment and/or dealing withhigh profile, sensitive issues.nExcellent oral, written andpresentation skills.nCollaborative approach when working with otherinternal teams.nPerson-centred approach to daily work, includingshowing respect to all, listening and sensitively managing vulnerableindividuals.nRemain calm under pressure with the ability to workflexibly to meet changing demands and embrace new strategicinitiatives.nExperience of appearing as an advocate beforetribunals/Courts (desirable).
