The Group Health and Safety Manager will advise Directors and Managers on all safety, health, and welfare matters to ensure the company complies with its statutory obligations. This senior management role involves devising and implementing new Safety cultures, management systems, strategies and strengthening communication channels while managing with a strategic approach, keeping the future development of both the Health and Safety Department and the business in mind. Understand and apply the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Attend external courses/seminars for accurate interpretation and implementation of legislation.
Prepare and write method statements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and site visit reports.
Conduct fortnightly health and safety inspections at sites, advising on best practices and preparing reports.
Contact the Director immediately for any situations requiring immediate rectification or stopping operations.
Arrange health surveillance as instructed.
Highlight areas requiring training/certification to meet legislative standards.
Review the training matrix against business needs and ensure it is current.
Encourage and develop better awareness and understanding of H&S policies through education and communication.

Detailed knowledge of health and safety within the UK construction industry.
Experience delivering projects to strict criteria and timescales.

Demonstrable customer relationship and networking skills.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate is required.
Membership of IOSH and the NEBOSH Diploma is essential.
A valid full clean UK driving licence is required for site travel.

Planning & Organising:

Effective planning and management of resources in line with strategic direction.
Appropriate use of personal and positional power for the long-term good of the organisation.
Ability to travel throughout the UK and stay overnight as required.
