Teacher of Art KS3/KS4 and potentially KS5– Full time/part time required September 2024 to join our successful team .
The ability to teach GCSE and/or A Level Photography would be desirable.

The school seeks to appoint a proactive and dedicated Teacher of Art (Full time/part time) who has a passionate belief in art education as a force for good. The postholder should be a highly supportive and student-centred teacher who is adaptable in nurturing and negotiating creative learning. They should have a good understanding of art histories and their complications, alongside enthusiasm for contemporary and collaborative practices. A willingness to contribute to extra-curricular arts opportunities such as departmental exhibitions and residential trips would also be of great benefit.
St Peter's is an 'all through school' that was designated GOOD with OUTSTANDING features by Ofsted in September 2017. It is delightfully situated on the Dorset Coast with ready access to the New Forest, both areas rich with opportunities for outdoor pursuits.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. Keeping Children Safe in Education
The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

The postholder should be positive, supportive and student-centred who is adaptable in inspiring, nurturing and negotiating creative learning. The post holder should have confident understanding of art histories and their complications, alongside a curiosity for contemporary practices in both art and art education.
