The East and Central Bristol CAMHS Team is located within a community settlement in a vibrant and culturally diverse area of Central Bristol. Our team is made up of Family Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Systemic Practitioners, Psychotherapists and Psychiatrists. We are a CYP-IAPT service currently developing the i-Thrive framework.

The post holder will lead on our Systemic Psychotherapy offer, which includes our Eating Disorder pathway. In addition to this they will also offer consultation, assessment and treatment to young people and families from a diverse range of backgrounds. The post holder should be passionate about working within diverse communities and be keen to develop an awareness of local community organisations and services that support the wellbeing of all families. The post holder will be a senior member of the team offering , consultation and clinical supervision to other team members. They will also be part of the Team Leadership Group.

Main duties of the job


  • To take a lead role on the provision of a high quality specialist Systemic Psychotherapy provision within a locality CAMHS team. Including the treatment of Young People with Eating Disorders.
  • Responsibility for setting up and managing Systemic Psychotherapy clinics and supervising staff within them.
  • To lead the specialist Eating Disorder Clinic, interpreting referral data and ensuring robust clinic management.
  • Facilitating multi-disciplinary team meetings to maintain oversight of the Eating Disorder caseload and treatment pathways.
  • Ensuring families receive interventions according to NICE guidance and local pathways of care.
  • Holding a case load and using resources creatively to provide an excellent therapy for children, young people and families tailoring therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of service users
  • Working alongside the senior management team, to support excellent leadership and governance within CAMHS
  • To offer supervision and consultation to a wide variety of professionals in line with the above goals.
  • To liaise effectively with referrers, local CAMHS and Adult Services and to work alongside teams to offer seamless service delivery when work transfers over to other teams and services.
  • To provide direct clinical work to families and to offer specialist consultation and training to other professionals as appropriate.

Job responsibilities


  • To take the lead and supervise specific systemic interventions within a CAMHS team.
  • To take the lead jointly in offering systemic interventions in accordance with the CCHP care pathways and according to NICE guidance.
  • To liaise and work effectively with professionals within partnership agencies.
  • To ensure that appropriate levels of clinical supervision are maintained and that clinical governance is of an excellent standard.
  • To participate fully in the work of CAMHS, as well as participating in the referral and assessment process (Choice & Partnership Approach/i-thrive approach).
  • To train others & offer supervised clinics for a variety of professionals.
  • To lead on a local provision for Eating Disorders in order to meet the needs of those referred and to use resources creatively by co-working with partnership agencies.
  • To work within all latest relevant clinical frameworks and guidelines including (but not limited to) NICE, Future in Mind, Eating Disorders Commissioning Guide etc.
  • To exercise responsibility for the governance of systemic practice through contributing to the development of policy and procedures guiding its application in a local CAMHS setting.
  • To apply a sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and child development to work with young people and families referred to CAMHS and identify when to refer to other agencies.
  • As an experienced clinician, to use professional skills in on-going clinical evaluation, which will include the use of appropriate, CYP- IAPT measures.
  • To monitor and evaluate progress through responding effectively to feedback from members of the client and professional system. This will include the use of appropriate CYP IAPT measures.
  • To hold an appropriate case load

The role will require a clear communicator who is able to work across partnership services who may have different goals.

To implement an enhanced systemic psychotherapy provision, for young people and families.

To manage complex relationships across CAMH teams and other partner agencies.

To work creatively and flexibly alongside other senior members of the team to provide an excellent service to families.

Education and Training

Essential


  • Qualified Family Therapist
  • Evidence of significant CPD

Desirable


  • Family Therapy or IAPT Systemic Practice Supervisor qualification
  • FT-AN or FBT Training

Knowledge and Expereince

Essential


  • 2 years Post qualifying experience of offering Family Therapy
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team to delivery assessment and treatment with children, young people and families experiencing a variety of mental health conditions
  • Significant Experience working with eating disorder presentations

Desirable


  • Experience of offering Clinical Supervision
