Job Description: Lifting Equipment Inspector

Position Overview

My Client is seeking a dedicated Lifting Equipment Inspector to join their safety and compliance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and operational compliance of a wide variety of lifting equipment, including both fixed and loose items such as hoists, winches, forklifts, slings, and shackles, across various industries throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Equipment Inspections:
    • Perform detailed inspections on a broad spectrum of lifting equipment, including loose lifting gear such as slings, shackles, hooks, and chains along with an array of other lifting equipment.
    • Evaluate equipment against stringent safety standards, including LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).
  • Certification and Documentation:
    • Certify that all inspected equipment is safe for use, documenting findings and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for compliance and auditing purposes.
  • Fault Diagnosis and Risk Assessment:
    • Identify potential risks and mechanical faults in lifting equipment, proposing effective solutions and preventive measures.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and risk assessments to advise clients on the necessary corrective actions.
  • Client Consultation and Education:
    • Advise clients on the best practices for maintaining and safely operating lifting equipment.
    • Conduct educational sessions to keep clients informed about the latest safety standards and regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Updates:
    • Stay abreast of industry developments and updates in safety regulations affecting lifting equipment.
    • Assist clients in navigating regulatory requirements to ensure full compliance with all safety laws.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Continuously enhance expertise through professional development courses, workshops, and sector-specific conferences.
    • Share knowledge and developments with peers and clients to foster a culture of safety and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential:
    • Recognized qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.
    • Extensive experience in inspecting a diverse array of lifting equipment, including both fixed and loose gear.
    • Comprehensive understanding of LOLER and PUWER regulations.
    • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication abilities.
    • Full UK driving license.
  • Desirable:
    • Advanced certifications in lifting equipment inspection.
    • Experience in providing training and safety instruction.
