Position Overview: The Senior Underwriter for Property and Casualty Insurance will assume a pivotal role within the underwriting department, leveraging a decade of industry experience to assess risks, evaluate applications, and ensure profitability. This position offers an exciting pathway for career advancement, with the opportunity to transition into the Head of Underwriting role within the next few years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive underwriting assessments for property and casualty insurance applications, applying advanced analytical skills to evaluate risk exposure and determine appropriate coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and clients to understand their needs, negotiate terms, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve profitability targets while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks, adapting underwriting practices accordingly.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriters, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues in claims, finance, and other departments to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, demonstrating a track record of success.
  • Fluent in German with proficient communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with the capacity to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Leadership qualities and a demonstrated potential to transition into a management role.
  • Professional certifications such as CPCU, ACII, or equivalent are advantageous.
