What You'll Bring:

We’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our growing Data Engineering & Analytics team. You will be based at our Leeds office and work in a hybrid model – 2 days per week working from office. In this fast-paced role you’ll work with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to enable Data Analytics across the organization. This exciting role will offer a host of development opportunities as part of a growing global business.

Day to Day You’ll Be:

  • Core Linux administration – admin & manage services, applications, storage, infrastructure, networking

  • Work on support activities such as patches, upgrades of POSIT (R-Studio)

  • Monitor, Support, Scale & Optimize R-Studio clusters as needed.

  • Administer & Support Jupyter Lab on Posit Workbench 

  • Manage, administer & deploy core platform services on REHL (e.g. Apache Airflow, R-Studio, Jupyter Lab)

  • Work directly with cross functional data engineering and data science teams

  • Support deployment and administration of Big Data tools (such as Hive, Spark, HDFS)

  • Work with industry standard tools such as Ansible to keep different environments in a consistent state.

  • Debug and resolve networking issue, troubleshoot connectivity and performance problems

  • Administration of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker

  • Work with Ops tools such as Splunk

  • Setup and administer logging solution (e.g. based on Graylog or similar)

  • Deploying new development tools, infrastructure, and Networking as needed

  • Work with Data Engineering on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Linux (RHEL) knowledge

  • 5+ years of experience as a Platform / DevOps Engineer on Data/Analytics projects

  • Experience with CICD tools – e.g. Jenkins, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes

  • Experience with package management tools e.g. Artifactory, Nix (NixOS)

  • Experience with GIT

  • Strong Shell scripting skills

  • Experience with Big Data Ecosystems

  • Experience with a high-level programming language such as Python

  • Experience with Cloud environment is an advantage.

  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving attitude.
