Are you a build heritage consultant looking for a new opportunity in Brighton?

This brighton based client is an independent specialist archaeology and build heritage consultancy. For nearly ten years they have build up a solid reputation for providing highly skilled and pragmatic planning, development and construction projects. Sectors including renewables, education, built heritage, housing, regeneration, commercial and urban regeneration.

They are respected for their honest expert opinion, meticulous reporting and consistent high-quality advice that delivers the best possible outcomes.

You will responsible for the conservation and management of heritage sites like historic buildings, landscapes, museums, ancient monuments and other properties.Working to conserve heritage buildings, you will carry out research into the history of a property to ensure any planned work is compatible with the heritage characteristics of the building.

In addition to consultation with building owners,architectsand other professionals as part of a team, heritage consultants are advocates for the buildings they work on.

With a focus on construction, materials and any significant features of the building, you will recommend ways of preserving and incorporating those heritage features into the planned reuse, renovation or restoration of the building.

Key responsibilites

Researching the history of heritage buildings

Considering modern building regulations and requirements when planning new work

Sourcing rare, traditional building materials and fixtures

Researching original paint colours and finishes

Recruiting and supervising specialist tradespeople to undertake restoration and renovation work

ABOUT YOU

An understanding of UK heritage legislation and policy

Knowledge of UK architectural history across a range of building types

Good research skills

Organised and thorough approach to work

Ability to manage own time and comfortable working both within a team or alone to tight deadlines

Experience of undertaking historic buildings assessment work

Good communication skills

Flexible approach to working hours to meet the demands of the role, including occasional working away from home

A driving license is preferable
