Commercial Property Solicitor Location: Reading (Hybrid working)
Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Commercial Property Solicitor to join its Corporate Legal Team. Their Legal Services department serves the Council's needs across a wide range of functions, including providing legal advice and support to the Council’s Property and Assets Management team. Additionally, Reading hosts the Joint Legal Team, a recognised centre of excellence for childcare, adults, and education law.

This role is ideal for a Lawyer with a proven track record in dealing with commercial property matters relating to asset portfolio management and the public sector. You will play a crucial role in managing a diverse caseload and providing expert advice on all aspects of local authority land dealings.

expert legal advice and support on commercial property matters, particularly relating to asset portfolio management and all aspects of public sector land holdings, including development, sale, lease, and governance.
the Council's objectives by providing legal guidance aligned with commercial property strategies and policies, demonstrating a good understanding of local authority governance.
timely and effective legal services to the Council and its partners.
opportunities for improvements in team systems and processes, contributing to ongoing enhancement in commercial property legal services.
in service improvement initiatives, supporting the delivery of strategic and service objectives outlined in the Legal Services Strategy and Service Development Plan.

a fully qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILEX, with experience in commercial property law - Essential .
is preferable that you have experience and a good understanding of local authority governance, along with the ability to provide advice on all aspects of local authority land dealings - Preferable .
track record should include dealing with commercial property law in the public sector. - The council believes in developing and growing its staff and there are opportunities to be exposed to other areas of law.
