Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Support the Group Tax Manager and wider finance department in undertaking tax compliance and provisioning activities for the Group, covering both direct and indirect taxes in the UK, US, EU, Ireland and Switzerland. Responsible for working with the Group’s tax advisors to prepare UK and EU VAT returns for submission as well as managing various filing deadlines. Opportunities to expand role into working on UK and US R&D Tax Credits, UK patent box regime and the Group’s transfer pricing policy. Further opportunities to work with the Tax Manager, VP, Financial Controller and CFO to ensure tax efficient decisions are made across the Group, input to international tax planning and providing tax considerations for key business decisions to support a very dynamic and expanding business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support overall tax compliance for both direct and indirect taxes including working with the Group’s Tax Manager and external advisors to:
o Prepare and complete corporation tax returns. Including being responsible for providing underlying financial data and support for decision making on complex taxation issues and areas of judgement.
o Prepare and complete tax provisioning for the Group financial statements, both at year-end and for quarterly interim reporting.
o Prepare and completing the various VAT returns required in the UK and across the EU ensuring compliance is maintained and deadlines met.
• Support in US specific areas of tax including:
o Corporate income taxes, at State and Federal levels.
o Assessing the tax consequences of business changes to ensure US obligations are known and met.
o Annual PFIC and CFC position declarations for US shareholders.
• As the Group continues to expand globally, work with the Tax Manager to refine and implement an efficient tax operating model.
• Support the Tax Manager to advise the wider organisation on areas of tax uncertainty as the Group expands and undergoes commercialisation in new territories to ensure good, tax efficient decisions are made (e.g. legal entity v permanent establishment considerations).
• Support the Tax Manager in advising commercial and clinical supply chains on customs matters.
• Upholding tax and administrative policies and reviewing for continuous improvement.
• Ownership of tax key controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes and ensuring compliance.
• Support in providing tax input on the implementation of new financial systems.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience & Knowledge

Essential
• Professional individual with solid experience in direct and / or indirect tax reporting.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• A working understanding of fundamental tax accounting and financial concepts.
• Technical knowledge and experience in some area of tax and a willingness to expand areas of expertise.
• Ability to interpret tax legislation, guidance, and formal tax advice.
• Open and honest team player.
