The Electrical Section of the group is responsible for maintaining and developing all the electrical and electronic equipment used by the Low Energy Beams Group. The equipment is a mix of commercial and in-house developed systems including: and a host of smaller low voltage/low current power supplies and sub-systems required for monitoring and controlling the operation of ion sources and low energy beam transport systems.
You will fault-find, repair, design, develop, procure, build and install electrical and electronic equipment. You will write documentation for new systems and maintain existing documentation including circuit diagrams, manuals, risk assessments and method statements.
HNC or equivalent in an appropriate Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline.
Experience of software for circuit design/layout or simulation.
Broad range of electrical and electronic knowledge and or practical experience covering
Digital logic circuits using CMOS Logic, (gates, counters, multiplexers, oscillators)
Fibre optic systems, glass & plastic fibres, optoelectronic devices
Power electronics
Vacuum electronics (tubes/valves)
