Planning Officer

We are now looking for a Planning Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.
30 days holiday per annum, plus Bank Holidays

What's more, your work will play a crucial role in safeguarding Exmoors natural and cultural heritage for future generations. As a Planning Officer, you will provide effective and community-focused planning services to conserve and enhance the natural and built environment of the National Park.
Specifically, you will manage the impact of developments on Exmoors special qualities, ensuring they contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of communities. Process planning, listed building, and other applications within statutory deadlines
- Negotiate with applicants and agents to align proposals with policies
- Offer guidance and advice in person, on-site and via letter, phone and email
- Draft reports and present them to planning committees
- Monitor development sites to ensure compliance with planning conditions
- Investigate alleged breaches of planning control
To be considered as a Planning Officer, you will need:
- A degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent experience
- An understanding of National Park purposes and planning in protected landscapes
- A UK driving licence to travel to remote rural locations without access to public transport
