We are looking for a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist or, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist-psychosis to help deliver Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with clients in long-term needs who reside on our rehabilitation units at the Horton Haven site in Epsom. Applicants must have experience of working in MDTs and delivering CBT and CBTp to clients.

BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapists who trained generically must have additional post-qualification in CBTp.

The role also involves the supervision of Assistant Psychologists and may also involve supervision of trainee Clinical Psychologists. An additional interest engaging in audit and psychosis research would be an advantage.

You will be a part of a thriving therapies programme which includes close ties with our Occupational Therapy and Arts psychotherapies colleagues. You will be taking a lead in developing and promoting psychological services across the units at our Epsom site.

Supervision and support will be provided regularly by a suitably qualified clinical psychologist.

The work location is primarily at our rehabilitation units at the Horton Haven site in Epsom although there will be opportunities to provide this service across our rehabilitation units in London.

Main duties of the job


  • To deliver CBT and CBTp to service users requiring help with long term rehabilitation needs at Horton Haven site.
  • To work as a member of the Horton Haven rehabilitation services and support the team manager in effectively delivering NICE Concordant treatment to service users.
  • Supervision of Trainee Psychologists and/or Assistant Psychologists
  • Undertake specialist psychosocial assessments and provide input and support to service users at the Horton Haven site.
  • To have an active role with other senior colleagues in the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways and Nice guidance.
  • Contributing to research, audits and team training.
  • Provide effective care within a multidisciplinary team setting for people experiencing a first episode psychological difficulties.
  • To deliver training specific to the role to members of the MDT.
  • Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
  • In delivering your duties you are expected to display behaviours that are aligned with the trusts core values.
  • In conjunction with other senior team members ensure that implementation of clinical/management supervision for staff in line with the trust policy and appropriate professional guidelines.

Job responsibilities


  • Support the delivery of CBTp in line with NICE guidelines for Service Users on the Horton Haven site.
  • To provide specialist psychological assessment of clients on the Horton Haven wards based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.
  • Facilitate MDT colleagues/staff in providing service users and their families with a service that is culturally sensitive, needs led and ensure that these are of the highest standard in terms of equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Caseload management.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary mental health, psychological assessments for service users and their families referred to the team.
  • Formulate, recommend and, where agreed, implement plans for formal treatment and/or management, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • To provide service users and their Carers with clear information to assist them in making informed decisions about their assessments, treatment and care.
  • Provide specialist expertise, advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to formulation, diagnosis and a treatment plan for people experiencing psychological difficulties.
  • Utilise an evidence based approach to negotiate and manage clinical opinions and team discussions.
  • To undertake and develop risk assessments and risk management plans for the Horton Haven site service users and to provide advice to other professions on risk assessment and risk management.
  • To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary care.

Qualifications

Essential


  • Doctoral level qualification in clinical psychology or equivalent and Registered with the HCPC as Clinical Psychologist and eligibility for Accreditation with the BABCP o OR BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist with additional CBTp training.

Experience

  • Experience working with clients experiencing psychosis in the NHS.
  • Experience of delivering CBTp to NHS clients.
  • Experience working in an NHS Multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters

Skills and knowledge

Essential


  • Knowledge of the NICE guidelines for Schizophrenia and Psychosis
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of CBT applied to clinical practice, particularly in respect of adults and young people with severe and enduring mental health disorders (including personality disorders) .
