Job Description

Senior Data Engineer (Azure / Data Lake / Databricks / Data Factory / SQL Data Warehouse / SQL Database)

A leading energy company in the low-carbon sector is looking for a Senior Data Engineer .

Base Location: Flexible, with a preference for key Scottish sites including Perth, Aberdeen, or Inverness. Edinburgh, Portsmouth and Reading are also possible.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Hybrid (1 day at the office per week)

What is the Role?

As a Senior Data Engineer , you'll develop and optimize data pipelines on the Microsoft data stack, particularly the new Fabric data platform. You'll collaborate with data architects, developers, and stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Lead Data Engineer, you'll be part of a team delivering innovative data solutions across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement sophisticated data models and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data management teams to uphold data governance and security standards.
  • Optimize data solutions using Azure, ensuring robust testing and deployment.
  • Foster continuous improvement and innovation in data engineering.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.

What Do I Need?

  • Professional-level technical computing, analysis, design, and development skills.
  • Experience with Azure cloud technologies for analytics solutions.
  • Proficiency with Azure resources like Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, SQL Database, and SQL Data Warehouse.
  • Senior-level experience in data engineering, including designing data models, ETL pipelines, and conducting testing/QA.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including best practices in source control, CI/CD, and change control.
