Following our continued growth and wider success in winning major projects across the UK and overseas, we are looking for a Regional Client Director Scotland to join our transport planning, public transport, transport modelling, future foresight, transport technology and highways team.

This role will be based out of our Glasgow or Edinburgh office.

This is an exciting opportunity to not only take a major role in developing and growing our vibrant multi-sector team but to shape our offering and strategy for an important market, contributing to achieving a high performing shared enterprise with our partners.

You will be responsible for engaging with targeted clients in the region and coordinating with appropriate teams and counterparts in other units within Mott MacDonald. You will also be required to lead bids and project work.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Developing and executing the strategy for the Regional Account including identifying “where to play”, “how to win” choices with support from the relevant colleagues;
  • Developing and delivering a Client Engagement Plan;
  • Continually reviewing our strategy against performance and market changes;
  • Developing strong and robust client relationships;
  • Growing and developing selected Accounts within the Division in response to the Divisional and Unit Business Plans and Group strategy;
  • Meeting sales targets in line with the Business Plans;
  • Coordination with key teams in the Division, and with other Units and Divisions;
  • Assessment and prioritisation of opportunities with Principal Account Leads;
  • Supporting members of the team with their technical and professional development;
  • Implementing digital technology to increase delivery efficiency and enhance project outcomes;
  • Supporting the development of bids to increase the pipeline of work, ensuring bids are technically and commercially sound; and
  • Leading projects and project teams when appropriate.

The successful candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic and passionate about client engagement, customer experience, work winning and delivering great transport solutions that drive robust social outcomes.

Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in work winning across a broad client group, such as private sector clients, contractors, local authorities and Transport Scotland;
  • Demonstrable experience in client account management;
  • An established network of industry relationships in the region;
  • Demonstrable understanding of wider planning and technical requirements, with deep knowledge and skill in either transport planning or engineering design;
  • Demonstrable experience leading teams in your discipline and engaging with clients;
  • Transport Planning or Civil Engineering degree or equivalent;
  • High standard of verbal and written communications and willingness to engage and communicate with clients and colleagues - a collaborative approach is essential;
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and strategies and to see delivery through to successful project completion;
  • Strong interpersonal / people skills;
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK.

Desirable academic qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:

  • Broader competencies that could add value to your role, such as a commercial understanding of pricing in the market;
  • Good understanding of Net Zero, sustainability and carbon;
  • Chartered Professional status or equivalent.
