Synopsis Writer - Turkish & English Speaking

ASAP Start

5 month contract initially

£45ph

40 hrs per week

Can be UK or Turkey based but fully remote

Our client, a global entertainment company are seeking a bilingual (Turkish/English) writer to join the Creative Writing Strategy team, asap. This role is perfect for an omnivorous generalist who loves to ideate on language.

The ideal candidate is a skilled writer/editor who is an expert on media and entertainment in the Turkish market — You will have proven proficiency in writing and editing world-class creative content in Turkish and English.

The role:

  • Write synopses about Turkish (and sometimes non-turkish) movies and TV shows in English. A typical day might include writing a number of synopses a week — everything from popular action movies to low-budget indie films.
  • Work closely with assignment editors overseeing the workflow to ensure that you’re paired with the right titles and that your copy meets the needs of the writing brief
  • Embody editorial principles to create accurate, inclusive and creative synopses that are nuanced enough to resonate with different audiences.

You:

  • Full native proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in Turkish, and a professional-level
  • Knowledge of speaking, reading, and writing in English
  • Experience writing or editing articles, blog posts, reviews, or feature stories about film and TV
  • Mastery of AP style and attention to detail
  • Research skills to help you gather context about titles and quickly synthesise information from a variety of sources
  • A selfless approach to contributing to a world-class editorial team
