We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner to join our friendly team in Surgical Day Case Unit (SDCU), at Weston General Hospital.


SDCU is a small, friendly unit with a real passion for delivering the highest standard of care. We have 2 theatres in our SDCU and a further 4 theatres in our Main Theatre Unit. We cover a wide range of specialities including general & colorectal surgery, breast surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics and trauma. The unit is open 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday). They may also be required to work across the Day Case Unit Ward and Theatre Receiving Unit. There can be an opportunity to be part of the on-call rota for Main Theatres.
To work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines to provide a high standard of patient care using a flexible patient centred care approach.


To provide an expert level of professional practice within Theatres/ SDCU, and to be responsible for the management of a theatre nursing team, providing advice, information and support.

Qualification and Training
NMC Registered Nurse OR Operating Department Practitioner/ Dip HE in Operating Room Practice
Training Qualification or equivalent experience
Public Sector Language Competency
Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard


Appropriate post registration experience in nursing and speciality
Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
Evidence of commitment to research based practice or evidence of project work undertaken

Ability to work alone or as part of a team
Innovative and participates with practice and policy change
Commitment to the development and provision of high quality nursing care
Awareness of current national changes in nursing / NHS
General good health
