Oxford Oxfordshire, United Kingdom The Oxford Exchange Full time

Company Description The Oxford Exchange is a UK nonprofit and leading provider of education and training programmes in Oxford and Cambridge for students, schools, and institutions around the world, including US universities, and military units. We also conduct year-round research and write policy papers advising world governments.

We offer 2-week intensive residential courses every summer in an Oxford or Cambridge University college. Our programmes are designed to provide pre-university students, university students, and/or professionals with an immersive and experiential learning experience to help them develop and build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen field.

We are looking for a University Lecturer of Global Health & Medicine (GHM) to join our team in Oxford to deliver a course to pre-university students (cohort age groups of 16-18 and 13-15). The successful candidate will be responsible for co-developing and delivering lectures, running seminars, and offering one-to-one tutorials to pre-university students (“Oxford IQ Academy”) enroled in our programme.

The teaching role requires 15-20 contact hours per week in 1-2 week segments per cohort session beginning 9 July 2024 (we can be flexible with days and times of teaching). We offer our tutors contracts for 15-40 teaching hours (+ paid prep and training time) per cohort session. Role: Senior Tutor in Global Health & Medicine.
Global Healthcare & Medicine
This course is a hands-on practical course for students with an interest in pursuing a career in the global healthcare industry. You will learn the business of medicine in the city and university in which the first COVID-19 vaccine was developed (Oxford University and Astra Zeneca). We also add a rigorous medicine component to this course that covers medical technology, biotechnology, and many other aspects of the field.

Strong knowledge of one or all of the following: 21st Century modern health systems, the value chain of the healthcare industry, the business of running a hospital or clinic, technology in health systems, government policy in healthcare;
Experience in lecturing and running interactive seminars at the university level;
Ability to work on-site at an Oxford University college.

A current or prior relationship with Oxford University (alumni, teaching role, etc), a qualification from Oxford University or Cambridge University;
Degree in Medicine, Healthcare, or a similar field

Highly qualified candidates for whom commuting is not an option are housed in ensuite rooms with our residential staff in the specific Oxford college where the cohort stays. We compensate our team members at a higher rate than most (if not all) of the other “summer school providers.” We are a UK nonprofit and believe in reinvesting in the quality of our programmes, which begin and end with team members like you.
We like to help our team members develop their own careers. Depending on schedules, some faculty may take breakfast and dinner with the cohort in the dining halls of the Oxford colleges, and we pay for each faculty member to attend dinner at Formal Hall, which occurs once every cohort.
Each cohort takes a study trip one day to London. For extra pay, a faculty member may choose to lead his/her class to visit specific sites relevant to the course.

If the candidate is hired and is rated highly by the students, we envision a long relationship with the candidate that will include teaching senior military officers and diplomats and for prestigious institutions over many years.
