Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting an innovative subsea engineering company based in Blyth in the appointment of a Principal Mechanical Engineer due to growth. The ideal candidate will provide and lead technical support across all departments to ensure completion of engineering deliveries and take ownership for the technical department.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the conceptual and details design of mechanical systems and components for offshore projects including trenching asset and vessel equipment.
* Take ownership of al technical engineering design procedures.
* Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in mechanical procedures and practices.
* Review and approve the work of other engineers and contractors.
* Improve processes and act as the technical governance for the discipline throughout full scope of projects from studies and tenders to live projects.
* Perform calculations, simulations and testing of mechanical design components and systems to verify functionality, performance and reliability.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the installation, commissioning and operations of offshore mechanical systems and components.
* Work in accordance with relevant codes standards and regulations.
Requirements:
* Chartered Engineer
* Highly experienced working in a related role and industry, ideally performing mechanical design activities on subsea vehicles from concept through to detailed design.
* Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and design.
* Ability to perform mechanical analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal etc.)
* Knowledge of relevant codes and standards
* A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
* Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor & SolidWorks.
