If you have what it takes and would like to join a market leading organisation within a growing design team, we have a vacancy in Milton Keynes for an Electrical Design Engineer.

The role of the Design Engineer is to own custom design projects from conception, design and through to successful final installation on customer site so will ensure accuracy in your work and collaboration and excellent communication with key stakeholders throughout. The Design Engineer will work closely with the sales team ensure that the customer is left with a successful customised solution, and that they feel cared for.

You will ensure that customised solutions continue to lead the industry in proper processing of food which will involve collaboration with Sales, Service, Engineering and Suppliers on customer needs, competitors and product positioning. You will be on top of new trends and developments in the food industry. You will also be working alongside the sales team to analyse production processes and evaluate systems performance to identify design improvement opportunities at customer production sites.

Monday-Friday working pattern

* Qualified engineer with a minimum of a Batchelors degree or an HNC in a Mechanical, Electromechanical, Robotics, Automation or Food Processing discipline, or 5+ years experience in a relevant role.

* You will have experience of incorporating gearboxes, motors, PLC’s, servo controllers & safety devices into machinery.

* You will have experience creating electrical drawings with AutoCAD and Draftsight.

* You will have a current and proven track record as an Electrical Design Engineer having designed capital equipment or special purpose machinery.

* You will ensure accuracy in your own work as most projects are of a bespoke nature.

* You will be comfortable working autonomously and managing your time effectively within a small UK design department with additional support from a larger US team.

* Ability to communicate effectively in English with technical and non-technical people via reports, emails and verbal communication.

* Excellent customer relationship management skills are a must

* Possess a full valid driver’s license as there will be some travel required to customer sites.

* Programming or coding experience, or an interest in this area.

* Food processing equipment electrical design.

* Electro-Mechanically qualified and or experience in systems design.

* Previous experience with an equipment manufacturer - food industry experience is highly desirable
