Our client is a Global, innovative, fast growth management consulting business with offices around the World.
With a Head office in Berkhamsted, we are working with the Head of Application Development to build an internal DevOps team within their Technology function. Reporting to the Head of Application Development , you will be responsible for building applications and business systems that deliver real business value.
From design, development, test, deploy, maintain and improve, you will be working with business critical software platforms to ensure they are robust, scalable, and secure.
You will have a miminum of 5-10 years experience in a broad and hands on Applications/Full Stack Developer role, from coding to liaising with senior stakeholders. You will have a really interesting role, working on a variety of projects and empowered to drive those projects, supporting in the execution of the Digital Strategy initiative , coding, design and understanding how to build up in Azure and how to keep them secure.
Role Description:
- Work in a new, lean development team, sharing knowledge and guiding other developers and the wider technology team and users
- Working collaboratively across the organisation in embedding technology application capabilities and inputs into the day-to-day operations of the business
- Maintain high performance and availability of all applications, databases and integration systems
- Work with colleagues across the company to build systems that deliver business value
- Develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve business critical software platforms
- Find solutions to technical problems affecting users
- System administration, such as provisioning and managing cloud-based infrastructure, deploying changes, security monitoring, system maintenance, and managing internal and external network connectivity
- Maintenance and configuration of tools and products used in the software delivery lifecycle and monitoring, and configuration of the supported environments.
- Use tools to automate system administration tasks, such as deploying new releases or applying security patches
- Configuring and deploying Azure DevOps CI/CD tools
- Use CI/CD to automate building, testing and deployment of software
- Work closely with the rest of the development team to ensure these tools are used effectively
- Build and maintain a suite of tests that protect against regression issues and that can be executed with relatively low human effort
- Provide insight and direction in relation to adoption of appropriate technology and architectures
- Employ the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to the management of cloud infrastructure resources, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Key skills & Experience required:
- A degree or higher-level qualification in Computing science or a related subject
- Experience in security and data protection eg NCSC best practices and GDPR
- Experience in up to date programming principles such as SOLID, DRY and YAGNI
- Experience in developing software solutions using technologies such as .NET 6, C#, SQL Server and real-time communication frameworks, such as SignalR
- Experience developing web frontend applications, such as SPAs, using Angular 10+ in JavaScript/TypeScript
- Knowledge and experience of DevOps, such as maintaining production systems, automation, deployments, backups, and 3rd line support
- Git source control and branching strategies
- Administration of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience of querying and management of databases and storage, such as SQL databases and BLOB storage
