We are building an AI Copilot designed to support bank ALCOs (Asset-Liability Committees) in making optimal balance sheet management decisions. We empower Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) to test liquidity and funding strategies in a risk-free environment, enabling optimal decision-making for the balance sheet before real-world implementation. Our innovative approach revolutionises the way financial institutions manage their balance sheet and make sure they are optimal from regulatory, shareholders and customer perspectives.

Context

As you may be aware, SVB, Signature Bank, First Republic Bank and Credit Suisse unexpected demise kicked off a historic year of bank failures. The banks had $548.7billion of combined assets. SVB's "original sin" was its funding structure. This was fundamentally a failure of liquidity risk management, with the rising interest rates serving as the catalyst that exposed this underlying weakness. This was a failure that originated from ALCOs suboptimal decisions.

Problem statement

UK mid-sized banks’ ALCO are struggling to make forward-looking liquidity and funding decisions due to reliance on static reports and tools that are not optimized for strategic balance sheet management. This limitation leads to billions of pounds in losses annually.

It's time for ALCOs of small and mid-sized banks to have more than just Excel spreadsheets and static MI Packs to guide crucial forward-looking decisions in a complex, rapidly changing and competitive banking environment.

Role Overview:

As the CTO and Co-Founder, you will be instrumental in shaping the technological vision and strategy of MaverickFi. You will lead the development of our AI Copilot platform, developing cutting-edge banking specific AI models, ensuring seamless integration with banking systems and delivering innovative solutions to complex financial challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the technology roadmap in alignment with business goals.
  • Lead the development and deployment of the AI Copilot platform, leveraging advanced AI and machine learning techniques, including Agentic RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).
  • Oversee the integration of real-time data from core banking platforms, treasury systems, and financial reporting tools.
  • Ensure the platform's scalability, security, and performance.

Qualifications:

The likely candidate is PhD or Master’s qualified in a relevant field (Computer Science, AI, mathematics, etc.) or some relevant banking experience; who has deep expertise in AI and machine learning. You should be ready to start with equity and have the financial flexibility to support yourself through 2024. Proven experience as a Technical hands-on leadership role in a bank, fintech or financial services company. Strong background in AI and machine learning, with experience in developing and deploying large language models such as Open AI, Cohere, Claude e.t.c.

  • Proven track record of successfully developing and deploying AI/ML-powered solutions, particularly in the financial services industry
  • Hands-on experience with Modern Data Architectures, cloud, multi-cloud, SaaS and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Expertise in data integration and real-time data processing.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication, coding, and project management
  • A learning mindset, with curiosity about our product, customers, and ways of working.
  • Humility, low ego, and clarity when sharing ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and making decisions.
  • Optimistic pragmatism by delivering great work that’s not compromised by the realities of a small team iterating on a big problem with little time.

Compensation:

This role starts with a 3-month equity-only contract. We expect to introduce a £40k salary by the end of 2024 after we hit our £500k fundraising milestone. With additional grant funding arriving in March, your salary will rise to £80k, and eventually to £160k once we reach £50k in monthly recurring revenue.
