About Us
The Diamond Project is a pilot program that works with and supports birth parents in Tower Hamlets who have had - or are at risk of having repeated pregnancies that lead to their children being removed from their care through care proceedings.
As a Diamond practitioner, you will work with parents to build their trust and confidence (mostly with mothers) and help them deal with their challenges and needs in relation to the 4 specified outcomes of Being a parent; Staying healthy; Staying safe and, Being in control. You will advocate for the parents and help them access the services they need, as well as provide practical support to help them overcome their challenges and needs. You will provide weekly supervision sessions and help organise and lead group meetings and sessions for the parents. You will form part of a small team, that will establish and maintain effective partnerships and influence with other agencies and stakeholders that support the parents.
The Diamond Project model is based on a relational way of working, so you will need to be committed to this approach and have the ability 'to always show up' and persist with these parents. You also need to understand the situations that cause children to be removed from their families of origin and be passionate about changing their lives for the better.

About the role
For this role you will need to have the following:
·Ability to work well with vulnerable people and undertake direct work and a range of different methods to achieve changes.
·Ability to manage effectively with vulnerable people in crisis and deal with conflict, controlling own and others’ anxieties, and working within the boundaries of the role.
·Knowledge and understanding of the mental health effects of being separated from your children and losing a child at birth.
·Ability to work professionally, to reflect on own practice and learn from experience.
·Ability to develop supportive and empathetic relationships with the parents (mostly mothers) who are referred to the service.
·Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken form, including the ability to explain complex and contentious information to a wide range of people and
negotiate and persuade others to adopt a particular course of action.
·Ability to recognise the boundaries of own accountability and responsibility, and to seek appropriate support, advice, and supervision.
·Knowledge and awareness of domestic violence and abuse, the patterns of abuse and exploitation and hold knowledge of methods and services to counter abuse.
About you
- Understand the framework that Children and Adults social care work within, including laws and national guidance and procedures relevant to this role.
- A social work qualification recognised by social work England (or equivalent degree level of qualification and experience is essential).
