About The Role

As a Contract Biomedical Engineer at CDP you will take a leading role in developing products in a wide range of healthcare sectors including drug delivery systems, medical devices, and diagnostics, which align with our vision to significantly improve lives through innovation.

You will use your in-depth specialist technical knowledge to help drive important development projects toward success. You will work closely with some of the world’s leading medical device and pharmaceutical companies to develop cutting-edge and innovative products from early-stage concepts to product launch.

About You

  • Good degree in Biomedical, Science or Engineering with a biomedical or bioengineering element and strong mechanical skills
  • Strong creative and technical abilities in two or more of the following areas: solids and fluids mechanics, materials and biomaterials, understanding of anatomy and physiology, concept generation; mechanical design; mathematical analysis of static, dynamic, fluid or thermodynamic systems; prototype and lab testing; design in plastics, design for high and low volume manufacturing; design for high reliability; transfer to manufacture; manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in computer modelling techniques, for example CAD, simulation, statistical analysis
  • Practical experience of healthcare industry-specific regulatory processes: working to quality management systems ISO 13485 and 21CFR820; risk management to ISO14971; design control; compilation of Design History File
  • Track record of leading projects from concept through to production, taking responsibility for quality, time and profit.
  • Excellent presentation, communication skills and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness gained in one of the following environments: devices development / engineering department of a pharmaceutical, medical or diagnostics company; technical or design consultancy; technology start-up
