About the role

The Information Events Coordinator will deliver our information events programme consisting of face-to-face andonline events hosted by the team and held throughout the UK, developing the strategy for the programme andimplementing event activity with the aim to increase participation and attendance.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the events, including marketing and promotion,as well as logistics and resourcing. You’ll be required to attend several weekend events throughout the year soshould be able to travel across the UK as needed.

We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries,delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people torebuild their lives after stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships withidentified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputationalpriorities.
  • Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to keyhealth board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
  • Working with theStories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.

You will have experience of:

  • Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
  • Using media to deliver calls toaction to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policychange).
  • Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarchingobjectives.
  • Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
  • Creating, posting, andmanaging social media content.
  • Reputation management and working with crisis communicationsteams.
  • Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies)and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidatesmust be able to meet this requirement of the role.

Our shops play a pivotal role in our income stream and assists in the financial sustainability of the Hospice. As theRetail Development Officer, you will support the Area Retail Manager in the running and development of allretail shops, e-commerce and distribution centre. You will support Shop Managers to deliver excellentmerchandising standards, efficient and effective work practices, regulatory compliance as well as exceptionalcustomer service. You will designate in the absence of the Area Retail Manager to ensure the effective andefficient management of the retail operation.

Our shops provide employment and volunteering opportunities, sell a wide selection of donated pre-loved goods, play asignificant role in the local reuse and sustainability agenda, and provide a visible presence of the AyrshireHospice within our local communities.

Main Responsibilities

  • To support Shop Managers in achieving year on year improvements in income, sales and net profit targets as per annual budgets
  • To work with Shop Managers, utilising KPIs to provide advice and feedback on shop performance that promotes a learning culture within the team
