Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting Wind Estate with the appointment of a Land Agent to join their Edinburgh based team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative organisation at an exciting time.

Wind Estate

The office in Edinburgh Wind Estate (UK) was established in 2015 with a focus on the development of Onshore wind projects across Scotland. We have a proven track record plus a portfolio of 1GW under development and continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the UK’s renewable energy targets.

As a forward-thinking organization, Wind Estate Renewables places a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and flexibility. The company's leadership fosters a culture of innovation, encouraging employees to think creatively and find solutions to complex challenges. With a proven track record of over 12 years in the UK's energy and infrastructure development, Wind Estate Renewables continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the country's renewable energy goals while maintaining a global mindset towards the broader challenges of sustainable development.

Job Summary
As Land Agent, you will be responsible for securing ancillary land rights across Scotland (and potentially rest of UK). For the right person, this is thus an exciting opportunity with the potential to grow within the renewables industry in general and project development in particular. You will have a variety of tasks in the office as well as being out in the field negotiating contracts and building relationships, whilst representing the company.

With reference to the UK Head of Development, you will be trained on the company’s operating procedures and in use of relevant software and assessing and reporting methods. It will be an advantage to have experience as a land rights negotiator for Wind and Solar Projects, but candidates with experience securing land rights for other large-scale infrastructure projects will also be considered for the position.

Responsibilities:
identify, design and negotiate land rights for component delivery routes (e.g. wind turbines) and grid connection routes, incl. overrun / oversail agreements
option to lease agreements, servitude agreements, wayleave agreements, and any other property related agreements
out record of condition surveys
financial and contractual input to Financial Investment Decisions and other commercial decisions, ensuring best value is achieved
referencing and reporting of information using the Land Registry
with external stakeholders (e.g. planning authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, solicitors, land agents, grid network operators) where required
and managing several projects at one time, in the development phase as well as under construction (for clarification and the resolution of misunderstandings, disputes etc.)

Skills and Experience:
are well-versed in reading and understanding legal documents and can demonstrate min. a couple of years’ experience in contract negotiation, preferably from negotiating land rights for renewable energy projects or infrastructure projects
have an analytical and structured approach to the tasks and excel in problem-solving under pressure
are good at putting yourself in the place of others, are solution-oriented and understand the dynamics happening between different parties and interests
are good in IT with experience in Microsoft office
take pride in your work, are highly motivated and able to work independently and within a team.

We offer:
An exciting position in a small, agile team in Edinburgh with the opportunity to really make your mark in the transition towards renewable energy. You will be part of an organization with an entrepreneurial mindset and a can-do attitude. We are curious and progress are at the forefront. We dare to think big and new, and the willingness to “dare to fail” is a natural part of the process. You will be empowered to fulfil your tasks with no micro-management and your personal and professional development is important to us.

Sounds like something for you?
Send us your CV and a few words describing why this is your next job to stuart.mitchell@edenscott.com Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis as we want to fill the position as soon as possible.
