Mechanical Project Director

Description A leading nuclear engineering contractor, currently delivering one of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes, has retained our services to appoint a Project Director. This role will be crucial in the success of this £multi-bn nuclear project. You will oversee the entire c£500mn mechanical piping scope of works, leading a team of 1500+, ensuring its efficient and safe delivery on a project that is critical to the UK. Key Responsibilities Overall responsibility for the efficient and safe delivery of the Mechanical Piping scope of works (100s of kms). Leadership of a directly-managed construction workforce of 1500+. Ensure timescales are met by driving continuous improvement across the piping scope to improve project efficiency. Oversee workforce planning, collaborating closely with partner companies, to ensure that the necessary skills and people are available when required. Act as the key link between construction delivery teams and the end client; focused on building collaborative working relationships. Interact with senior stakeholders across the project. Lead and foster a positive safety culture. Requirements Experience leading large-scale mechanical infrastructure projects that involve a significant amount of high-integrity piping installation. Experience in the nuclear sector (or other relevant sectors, such as oil & gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, other energy plants). Experience of successfully delivering projects through a self-delivery model. The ability to devise and implement continuous improvement to mechanical projects.
